Mr Jesse has not owned an EV car before and after some intensive research made his decision to buy a Tesla model 3, as this met with all his criteria.

With possible business trips into central London, it highlighted the need to pay a congestion charge.

THE CHALLENGE

Mr Jesse ordered his new EV car with a lead time of approximately 6-8 weeks. After only one week, a call came from the dealer to inform Mr Jesse his car could be ready in as little as two weeks.

Time was of an essence and so following our visit to his property the Rolec Wallpod - home smart charger was ordered and the grant paperwork completed.

The solution was to install a 32 Amp Rolec Wallpod - Home Smart Charger.

Installation

As timing was the critical factor here, UK Green Energy Installations managed to get the Rolec unit within two days from the supplier.

Within four days the unit was installed and including a RCBO fitted (for earth fault protection) inside a very neat looking enclosure, close to the existing consumer unit and meter.

All required tests for safety were completed following the installation and certification issued to comply with B.S 7671, 18th Edition Electrical Regulations.

Earth Rod

To comply with current regulations a local earth rod and inspection pit have been installed close to the units.

THE EV CHARGING POINT FROM ROLEC

The British built ROLEC EV charging points made from a strong polycarbonate construction, make this unit ideal for UK weather conditions. Water ingress from rain as well as UV and dirt are all variables that need considering.

Functionality

Smart technology allows this charging unit to be controlled via a free app and meets the governments criteria for up to 75% of the cost to a maximum £350.

By downloading the free app for either IOS or ANDROID, Mr Jesse was able to activate the smart EV charger.
